Spring onions have long, straight leaves with oval-like bulbs that grow underground having moist thin skin with little root hairs.

This globular bulb is generally white or red, which is also known as green onions and root vegetables. The long leaves are connected with a bulb having a bitter, pungent taste. It belongs to the family of garlic, leeks, and chives, and are available in all the supermarkets easily.

Recipes

 

1. Spring Onion Bread

 

Ingredients: Take 1 cup of finely chopped green onion with leaves, oil for a grill, chilli flakes, 2 cup flour, salt, cumin seeds, turmeric powder and water as required

 

Cooking Steps:  Take a bowl and mix chopped green onion, chilli flakes, 2 cup flour, salt, cumin seeds, turmeric powder and make the dough. Then put oil rolled dough in the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, till it turns brown. Now it’s ready to serve and eat.

 

2. Grilled Spring Onion

Ingredients: 3 spring onion, vegetable oil, 1 lemon cut into 2 parts, black pepper, and salt as per taste

Cooking Steps: Heat the charcoal in medium flame and grill the spring onion, discard the root after 2 to 3 seconds and brush the spring onion with oil, sprinkle the black pepper, salt and squeeze the lemon to make it peppery. Now it is ready to serve.
