Founded in 1953 by E. A. �Bud� Blackburn, the company originated in the basement of a family homestead near Royal, Nebraska. Bud developed the idea for the flags after a request from his cousin in the surveying industry. Over the years, Blackburn Manufacturing Company expanded its production capabilities and moved to its current location in Neligh, NE. The company's growth has been significant, with additional production facilities established in Cambria, California, under the leadership of Bud's sons and granddaughter.
Today, Blackburn Manufacturing Company remains a family-owned business, with a commitment to quality and innovation. The company's flag machines are still produced in-house based on Bud Blackburn's original designs, with minor enhancements to improve efficiency. With a workforce of 50 employees in Neligh and 5 in Paso Robles, CA, the company exports its flags to numerous countries around the world.
