Cyclops sight glasses are engineered to provide maximum safety in high-pressure, high-temperature, corrosive, and volatile processing environments. These sight glasses have a wide thermal shock range and are designed to resist blowouts or ruptures. They are easy to install and require no packings, compression rings, or screws, reducing the need for costly maintenance. Our safety sight glasses are constructed using only ASME-approved materials and tolerances. The development of Cyclops sight glasses was prompted by a series of plant explosions in the late 1940s and early 1950s, which were linked to failures of conventional or sandwich type sight glasses. In response, engineer Gene LeRoy was tasked with creating a sight glass that could maintain its integrity even when broken, preventing ruptures or blowouts under extreme pressure and high temperatures. After extensive research and testing, he devised a design that sealed the lens assembly peripherally instead of vertically clamping it against top and bottom lens gaskets.
