In 1942, Ted Quarnstrom founded Detroit Mold Engineering (later known as D-M-E Company) to offer mold bases in standard sizes that were prepped for cavity machining. This innovation allowed skilled moldmakers to work more efficiently, giving rise to the concept of the standard mold base. D-M-E is dedicated to assisting moldmakers, molders, and mold designers in achieving superior part production. Each D-M-E product is designed to enhance cost-efficiency, reduce time-to-market, or enhance the quality of the final molded product, often achieving all three objectives.
