About Seller: Globe Plastics, Inc. was founded on October 15, 1958 in Pomona, California by Roy and Marion Cramer. Roy, a retired engineer at General Dynamics, initiated the company's proprietary line of transistor pads to address challenges in semi-conductor production handling and assembly. Over the years, Globe became a key player in the electronics industry by manufacturing its own tooling. The company expanded its expertise to include compression and injection molding of high strength composites for the aerospace/defense sector. In 1979, Globe acquired the Encapsulation Cup line from Polytop Corporation in Fullerton, CA, followed by the purchase of the Encapsulation line from MG Precision Products in South El Monte, CA in 1982. With two proprietary lines in thermoset and thermoplastic transistor pads, as well as compression and transfer molded Encapsulation cups, Globe solidified its position in the industry.
In 1988, entrepreneurs Nywood Wu and Clifton Chang acquired Globe to enhance their defense-based contract manufacturing portfolio. As a minority-owned composite molding firm, Globe successfully expanded its presence in the aerospace/defense market, a position it still maintains after 60 years. Following a defense industry downturn in 1992, Globe began producing highly productive SMC and BMC materials through compression molding to supply components for the sound and lighting industries. These materials, along with their manufacturing processes, proved to be superior and more cost-effective than existing alternatives, allowing Globe to enter these new markets.
Since then, Globe has continuously improved its manufacturing capabilities, quality systems, and process expertise. In 2004, the company established a joint venture with Moldzen Precision in Dong Guan, China to form Globe Composites Far East, specializing in superior value in thermoset and thermoplastic molding for parts of various sizes. Globe achieved ISO 9001:2008 status in 2008, and has since obtained AS 9100C certification and is listed on the Oasis database to assure customers of its quality, consistency, and reliability.
