About Seller: Electrochemical marking, also known as Electromarking, is widely regarded as one of the most effective methods for permanently marking metal without causing any distortion. This process involves etching out the metal and then plating a stable compound of the base metal onto the etched surface, typically an oxide. The resulting Electromark is essentially a stable rust that is highly resistant to corrosion, as demonstrated by its durability in salt spray tests. Despite being just one ten-thousandth of an inch deep, the Electromark is produced in less than a second and can only be removed through abrasion, leaving the etched surface intact until a significant amount of metal has been removed. The color intensity of the Electromark varies depending on the base metal used; for instance, stainless steels typically yield a brown mark while monel metal results in a jet black mark.
