About Seller: Johnson Bros. was founded by Edwin Johnson, Sr. in 1947, when he embarked on an independent business venture. He began constructing the company's inaugural roll forming machine in his basement, which is currently in storage. To establish ownership in the business, Edwin offered his five brothers an equal share if they matched his life savings of $700. Harold Johnson was the only brother to accept the offer, leading to the establishment of Johnson Bros. Once the first machine was completed and tested, it had to be disassembled, relocated from the basement, and reassembled in Edwin's garage. Due to noise complaints from neighbors during the production of small orders, Edwin was compelled to seek new facilities. He secured an uninsulated, dirt-floor garage in Chicago, formerly a stable, where he and Harold insulated the space, constructed a small office, and installed a small stove for heating. Initially focusing on lockseam and openseam tubing, Johnson Bros. has expanded to offer a diverse range of shapes for various industrial applications, including sophisticated computer-controlled in-line fabrication. Their expertise in forming metals of all types, prefinished or plain, ranging in thickness from .004 in. to .188 in., has garnered clientele across the continental U.S., Canada, Mexico, and parts of Europe. With sales reaching seven million and a staff of 36 full-time and six part-time employees, Johnson Bros. has navigated challenges posed by outsourcing in recent years, positioning the company for a promising future.
