About Seller: Johnson Bros. was founded by Edwin Johnson, Sr. in 1947, with the construction of the company's first roll forming machine taking place in his basement. In order to secure an equal share in the business, Edwin offered his five brothers the opportunity to match his life savings, a $700 investment. Only one brother, Harold Johnson, accepted the offer, leading to the establishment of Johnson Bros. The initial machine was eventually relocated to Edwin's garage after completion and testing, as neighbors complained about the noise generated during production of small orders. The company then moved to an uninsulated, dirt-floor garage in Chicago, previously used as a stable, where the brothers insulated the space, built a small office, and heated the building with a stove during colder months.
Over the years, Johnson Bros. has transitioned from focusing on lockseam and openseam tubing to producing a variety of shapes for industrial applications, and now utilizes sophisticated computer-controlled in-line fabrication. Their expertise in forming various metals, ranging from prefinished to plain, in thicknesses from .004 in. to .188 in., has resulted in distribution to numerous locations across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and parts of Europe. With sales reaching seven million and a staff of 36 full-time and six part-time employees, Johnson Bros. has faced challenges due to outsourcing in recent years. However, the company remains optimistic about its future prospects.
