Lovejoy started producing Universal Joints in 1946, coinciding with Merlin W. Dangel assuming the role of president. The following year, the company expanded its product line with the acquisition of the Variable Speed Pulley line. In 1960, production of VSPs was relocated to a new facility in South Haven, Michigan. Lovejoy introduced two new product lines, the Uniflex and Saga lines, in 1962 and 1963, respectively. C. Patrick Hennessy began his two-decade tenure as president of the company in 1964. Lovejoy has recently focused on global expansion, opening a warehouse in Holland in 1994 and developing a line of Curved Jaw couplings, which adhere to the European standard, in 1995. In 1996, the company launched a range of all-metal, flexible grid couplings designed to protect PT systems from vibration and shock. Future plans include further international expansion as Lovejoy solidifies its position as a leading provider of couplings worldwide.
