About Seller: McCausey Lumber Company, founded by Mr. John W. McCausey in the early 1900s in Union City, Michigan, initially specialized in industrial lumber and timber products. Transitioning into the box and pallet business in the early 1940s, the company provided packaging solutions for military efforts during wartime. In 1947, McCausey Lumber relocated to Detroit, Michigan, expanding its services to cater to the builder trades and manufacture specialty boxes and pallets.
Facing market saturation in the Metro Detroit area in the early 1970s, McCausey's owners opted to diversify the business, aiming to become more specialized and reduce reliance on traditional construction items. This led to the company importing and partnering with leading producers of specialty wood products in Scandinavia, Europe, Finland, Germany, the Far East, and South America. As a result, McCausey Lumber Company's customer base and product offerings significantly expanded.
In 2013, the company rebranded as McCausey Specialty Products to better align with its diversified direction. Today, the company serves as a stocking distributor of various specialty wood products and composite materials, representing both foreign and domestic producers. With a focus on sourcing hard-to-find materials for clients with unique requirements, McCausey Specialty Products is committed to providing high-quality products, timely delivery, and fostering long-term relationships with customers and suppliers.
