About Seller: In the early 1960s, Roy Hill, while employed as a sales engineer at General Electric, identified a market demand for small, injection molded plastic components. In the outskirts of Chicago, he established Micro Plastic, Inc. in his garage, dedicating evenings and weekends to laying the groundwork for his aspirations. His key to success was offering competitive pricing and maintaining consistent quality. Soon, he was able to relocate the family car and expand operations to a 5,000 square foot molding facility and tooling workshop. By the mid-1970s, Roy and his wife Marilyn acknowledged that the business's urban location was hindering the desired growth rate. The appeal of The Ozarks and Bull Shoals Lake led to a bold decision: relocating the entire operation to Flippin, Arkansas, with a population of 1,000. Over the years, Micro Plastics expanded to 50,000 square feet with over 200 employees in the mid-1980s, and by the end of the decade, it boasted 100,000 square feet and 300 employees, thanks to its in-house tooling capabilities and diverse product range. Despite the economic downturn of the early 1990s, the company's diverse portfolio kept it afloat. The advent of the technology boom presented new opportunities, which Micro Plastics capitalized on through expansion and job creation. By the turn of the millennium, the company achieved peak efficiency through the implementation of automation and robotics in its new R&D department, essential for maintaining competitiveness in a demanding market. Presently, Roy's son, Tom Hill, is steering the company toward the future. Tom's extensive technological expertise and hands-on experience across all departments since the age of 16 have propelled the company into global markets, including the UK, Europe, Mexico, Australia, China, and Russia. With ISO certification showcasing a commitment to serving the international business community, Micro Plastics has evolved into what Roy envisioned in the 1960s: the world's largest manufacturer of threaded nylon fasteners.
