At its inception, ProChem specialized in the synthesis and purification of inorganic and organometallic chemical compounds, which found applications in industries such as semiconductors, lasers, ceramics, and medical technologies. In 1988, ProChem initiated a partnership with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories (LLNL) and collaborated to produce the highest purity Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate (KDP), enabling the growth of larger and faster crystals than ever before. ProChem now supplies high purity KDP to LLNL as the starting material for growing crystals for the National Ignition Facility (NIF).
Operating from a manufacturing site spanning over 25,000 square feet, ProChem manufactures its products in the United States and rigorously sources and tests raw materials to ensure the highest quality. Utilizing 50, 100, and 200 gallon glass-lined reactors for high purity chemical production, ProChem also employs a hot oil system for high temperature reactions up to 230 degrees Celsius. In-house analytical capabilities, including ICP-OES, AA, GC, FTIR, and HPLC, minimize the time between synthesis and shipping. Additionally, specialized external contract analytical laboratories are utilized for ultra-high purity analysis, such as ICP-MS for trace analysis in parts per billion (ppb) and parts per trillion (ppt) and XRD for conformational analysis.
ProChem's product lines encompass a wide range of high purity chemicals, including but not limited to inorganic salts, precious metal chemicals, rare earth chemicals, metal foils, powders, and shot, metal and rare earth acetates, carbonates, oxalates, oxides, nitrates, and sulfates, as well as metal alkoxides, organometallic compounds, electronic grade chemicals, metal and rare earth halides, ACS reagent salts, biochemicals, biotinylation reagents, heterobifunctional and homobifunctional crosslinking reagents, photoreactive phenyl azides, polyethylene glycol crosslinkers, iodination reagents, and protein modifiers.
