About Seller: Royal Paper Box Company was established in 1940 by Harry Lourie. Shortly after its inception, Harry brought on Clary Hodges, a talented die maker with whom he had previously worked, to serve as the company's production lead. Together, these two individuals identified the potential in custom packaging and operated a small folding box plant in Los Angeles, CA, employing around twelve staff members. With a strong entrepreneurial drive, they successfully expanded the business and relocated to a larger facility on 61st Street in Los Angeles. In the mid-1950s, Harry Lourie made the decision to retire, leading Clary Hodges, in collaboration with key employees and external investors, to purchase the company. In 1956, Royal Paper Box Company was reestablished under Clary's leadership. The company acquired its first Offset Printing Press, a 29" Miehle, in the early 1960s and subsequently moved to a 60,000 square foot facility in Montebello, California in 1964. The dedication to meeting customer demands fueled further growth, resulting in a significant expansion of an additional 40,000 square feet to the manufacturing facility in the late 1970s. Over time, Royal has acquired neighboring properties and currently operates from a vast 10-1/2-acre campus, encompassing approximately 200,000 square feet. James Hodges, Clary's son, gained experience at Royal before serving in the Marine Corps. Upon his return, he assumed various roles within the company before taking on overall operational responsibilities in the 1980s. Following Clary's passing in 1991, ownership transitioned to his son, James Hodges. As a registered Veteran Owned Small Business, Royal Paper Box prioritizes consistent quality, service, and timely delivery to meet customer requirements.
