About Seller: Following World War II, the expansion of the jet aircraft industry led to a growing need for high-performance metals. Through substantial investments in quality control systems and modern manufacturing equipment, Ulbrich successfully supplied metal for various aerospace applications, including the B-1 Bomber, multiple jet fighters, and the Space Shuttle. Responding to the evolving needs of customers, Ulbrich expanded its offerings to include specialty alloys such as nickel, nickel alloys, cobalt alloys, titanium, and titanium alloys. In the 1960s, it became evident that Ulbrich required a national distribution network. The establishment of Ulbrich of Illinois in Alsip marked the company's first stainless steel strip service center, followed by Ulbrich of Georgia and Ulbrich of California, enabling Ulbrich to better serve regional markets. During this period, Fred Sr.'s sons, Fred Ulbrich, Jr., and Richard Ulbrich, assumed leadership of the company. As the service centers flourished, the original Wallingford plant, now known as Ulbrich Specialty Strip Mill (USSM), invested in new rolling mills and annealing furnaces to keep up with technological advancements and customer demands. In response to customers' requests for increasingly narrow widths in precision strip orders, Ulbrich introduced a new product line and established the Ulbrich Shaped Wire division in North Haven, CT.
