About Seller: Following World War II, the growth of the jet aircraft industry led to an increased need for high-performance metals. Ulbrich made a significant investment in quality control systems and modern manufacturing equipment to meet this demand. As a result, Ulbrich supplied metal for various aerospace applications, including the B-1 Bomber, multiple jet fighters, and the Space Shuttle. In response to customers expanding their needs, Ulbrich also began offering specialty alloys like nickel, cobalt, and titanium. In the 1960s, Ulbrich recognized the need for a national distribution network and established Ulbrich of Illinois in Alsip as its first stainless steel strip service center. This was followed by the establishment of Ulbrich of Georgia and Ulbrich of California, allowing Ulbrich to better serve regional markets. During this period, Fred Sr.'s sons, Fred Ulbrich, Jr., and Richard Ulbrich, assumed control of the business. As the service centers flourished, the original Wallingford plant, now known as Ulbrich Specialty Strip Mill (USSM), expanded by adding new rolling mills and annealing furnaces to keep up with technological advancements and customer demands. In response to customers' requests for increasingly narrower widths for precision strip orders, Ulbrich introduced a new product line, leading to the creation of the Ulbrich Shaped Wire division in North Haven, CT.
