In 1942, Ted Quarnstrom founded Detroit Mold Engineering (later known as D-M-E Company) to supply mold bases in standard sizes that were ready for cavity machining. This groundbreaking approach enabled skilled moldmakers to work more effectively and led to the development of the standard mold base concept. D-M-E's primary focus is on assisting moldmakers, molders, and mold designers in producing high-quality parts.
