About Seller: The achievements of the Garthwait family exemplify the strong work ethic long admired in America, particularly in the Connecticut region. By combining entrepreneurial spirit with traditional machining skills common in New England, they have transformed Line Manufacturing, Inc. into a reliable supplier of specialized precision metal stampings. In 1932, Ralph and Clyde Garthwait established Line Manufacturing in a two-car garage with $400 each as initial investment. They started off by producing broom caps and worked tirelessly, often putting in 15- to 16-hour days, even on weekends. By 1939, the company was generating $275,000 in annual shipments with only one full-time employee, prompting the move to a larger 1,000-square-foot facility nearby. Following Ralph's passing and Clyde's departure, Helen Garthwait, Ralph's widow, took over the business and kept it running during World War II when Ralph's sons, John and Joseph, were called to serve in the armed forces. The history of the Garthwait enterprise reflects determination, hard work, and a commitment to customer satisfaction, leading to consistent growth and challenging negative perceptions about the capabilities of U.S. industry. Today, Line Manufacturing, led by third-generation members Bruce Garthwait, Joseph Garthwait, Jr., and Gregory Garthwait, operates out of a 20,000-square-foot facility on company-owned land in Wolcott, Connecticut.
