Ginger, commonly known as adrak, is one of the most used spices in Indian Kitchen. There are a wide range of dishes that require ginger in them. Ginger is a root vegetable and belongs to the Zingiberaceae family.
1. Ginger Ale Squash
Ingredients: 350 grams blended ginger, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, 1½ litre water, 1 cup sugar, ½ cup honey, a handful of gently crushed mint leaves and 1 tsp lemon juice.
Cooking Steps: Boil water, ginger, turmeric powder, sugar, and honey in a pan. Strain the mixture and your ginger squash is ready. You can store it in the refrigerator for a month. To make a drink from it add some of this mixture in a glass along with some crushed mint leaves, ice cubes, lemon juice and water. A refreshing drink for summers is ready.
2. Ginger Candy
Ingredients: 450 grams grated ginger, 250 grams sugar, ½ cup water, a pinch of salt, ¼ tsp cardamom powder and 3 tbsp all-purpose flour.
Cooking Steps: Boil sugar, water, and soil until they are mixed well. Add grated ginger to it and let it boil. Keep stirring the mixture. Add cardamom powder and 2 tbsp all-purpose flour to the mix and boil it. Stir continuously and add 1 tbsp all-purpose flour later. Boil thoroughly until the mixture becomes thick. Pour mixture on the butter paper and let it cool. Cut the mixture into small pieces and store them. Ginger candies are ready to eat.
